Beethoven Sonatas Volume 1 for Piano
The new edition of Ludwig van Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas published by Wiener Urtext Edition is based on all the important sources from the composer's lifetime: autograph manuscripts manuscript copies first editions and early reprints. The study of these sources in light of the latest findings from Beethoven research has produced numerous new readings and purified Beethoven's intended musical text of later layers or enriched it with important details on performance practice. Alternative versions are included at points where Beethoven's definitive intentions are less clearly established than broadly accepted performance tradition might suggest. The division of the sonatas into three comfortably sized volumes makes the new edition particularly easy to handle. Other advantages are intelligent page turns and a clear easily readable engraving. The fingerings are from famous pianists and piano teachers.
